Nakama is a five-piece band led by Norwegian bass player Christian Meaas Svendsen. The group was founded in 2015 and has already released five uncompromising albums on their own label Nakama Records, and toured extensively in Europe and Asia. The music draws influences from modern contemporary music and various kinds of traditional music from around the world.

Amidst concepts and written structures the players are left with plenty of room for individual expression and collective improvisation. It is a beautiful mash-up pf lyricism, prose and nonfiction written in an incomprehensible yet accessible language.

«Bold and fascinating… One of the most interesting working bands of today»
— Eyal Hareuveni

«Surprisingly and quite against the odds I find this music to be very communicative and engaging, which for this type of music is very rare.»
— Adam Baruch

The quartet sounds just as comfortable with extremes of avant-garde dissonance as they do with gorgeous melodicism. Compelling stuff, both as a cerebral exercise and as a listening experience.
